Leo of Sampson Boat Co. has just completed a mammoth seven-year-long task of restoring a mostly rotten gaff cutter yacht from 1910, called Tally Ho. He has not only built a magnificent boat, but built a team of incredible craftsmen, each with their own particular set of skills. There has been no expense spared on this restoration build and with this has meant the true extent of these craftspeople’s skills are realised. With a wonderful community garnered from his well documented YouTube channel, he has managed to recreate this boat in keeping with the vision of the original designer, Albert Strange. There is a lovely marriage between the traditional boatbuilding techniques with a respectful amount of new technology adapted.
